http://www.dolphinstreet.com - a Hendrix style blues scale lick - a very useful phrase to learn from! I used a Line POD HD500 for the guitar tone. You can get this preset at http://line6.com/customtone/profile/dolphinstreet/. I called it "D-street Blues Lite". This was also the first video with my new camera, Panasonic HVX200, where I used an up-close view of the fretboard. The camera is amazing, and I am almost disgusted looking my fingers... look at all that dry, yucky looking skin! :)

These really are some of the best video lessons I have seen, thank you. I really loved the bonomassa lesson.

The action on my strat (60s Classic Player) is 2mm @ 12th fret. My local tech tells me this is a low action, anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

High action sucks. If your frets are properly leveled you can have your action as low as you want without fret buzz and without losing sustain. The higher the action, the harder it is to play.

Those white dots on your fingernails indicates a Zinc deficiency. Just a little health tip.

Hey Robert, you are one of maybe TWO guys doing vids & lessons on You-tube that has figured out that the camera should be placed on the upper, right side of the player, so the viewer can actually see what frets are being touched. Nearly everyone else infuriatingly places the camera so the fingers block the view of the fret board. I wish I could post this 1000+ times. Good job, thanks again..........

Hendrix did play with a high action. All Fender players did back then. They did not have a choice. Strats had a 7.25 radius board. You were not doing hard bends on Strats back then without a high action. Same with fret buzz. They ran an action of about 2mm at the 12th fret. Lots of blues players run a high action. Even a lot of Shredders like EJ and ZW run 2mm action. Nice video and lick. Keep rock'in.

It's also because the lick isn't in a regular timing. I could be wrong, but I think it's either in a shuffle time ( 1 and 2 and 3 and 4) or a timing specific to Jimi.

@Stabiiliize Could be because you are starting the lick at the wrong spot.
