I heard in a interview Quincy Jones say Jimi was afraid to play with good blues guitar players, what a load of early onset Alzheimer's dribble. Someone was afraid, and I don't think it was Mr. Hendrix. That aside, this version is an interesting historic record but the Band of Gypsy's original release on New Years Eve, with that bombastic, wailing, single note sustain at the beginning of the solo still has this beat. I STILL can't hear that without the air guitar coming out........
