Yes like the others have said, this is almost exactly the same as the Rolling Stones version. But if this wee clearer, of course, Jimi does it better. I can't believe it was Jimi who played on the original too! Amazing, I wonder if the Stones knew that at the time.

thank you so much for posting this.......and you're right Willemp,,, the stones recorded version of this song is definitely almost note for note...even on the vocals.. almost intonation for intonation.....they did change it up with sound of the guitar riffs (more beatles drive my car style). Pretty similar though.

The Stones made a note for note copy of The Don Covay version. I believe Jimi played guitar on that Don Covay record.

Funnily enough, when the Stones performed this song at Hyde Park in 1969 it sounded very like this. I suspect they had heard this actual recording.

Please do not apologize for quality... You brought an incredible wonderful peice into my and other's life. Never heard this before, and never would have if not for your posting. Your gesture is beautiful. This is art, pure, raw at times, moving, and evoking. What happened at that time - Jimi, Warhol, Muscle cars, Easy Rider, Landing on thr frik'in moon - this will never happen again.

Jimi's rhythm playing was every bit as brilliant as his lead work.
