This is by far my favorite Kristofferson song. It's a powerful story, poetic lyrics, and a haunting melody all mixed into one. I particularly enjoy the contrast with the verses sung from the perspective of the mistress and how different they are melodically from the rest of the song. I hope my cover does this amazing song justice.
