DIAMONDS najväčší hit dvojice JET HARRIS AND TONY MEEHAN, ktorý bol v UK rebríčku 13 týždňov od 10. januara 1963 a ako 146. hit dňa 31. januara 1963 nahradil na vrchole pieseň Dance On skupiny The Shadows ironiou osudu skupiny v ktorej hrali spoločne predtým krátku dobu. Po troch týždňoch skladbu z vrcholu zosadila The Wayward Wind od Franka Ifielda. Stali sa prvou inštrumentálnu dvojicou na vrchole rebríčka v UK. Autorom skladby bol Jerry Lordan nar. 30. apríla 1934, ktorý zomrel 24. júla 1995 na zlyhanie obličiek. V skladbe hral na akustickej gitare Jimmy Page neskôr v skupiny Yardbirds a Led Zeppelin. Lordan bol autorom aj inštrumentálnej skladby Apache, ktorá sa stala hitom č.1 skupny Shadows bez Cliffa Richarda. Terence Jet Harris sa narodil 6. júla 1939 v Kingsbury v Londýne dňa 19. oktobra 1958 nahradil v skupine Driffters pôvodného basového gitaristu Iana Samwella.V decembri 1958 Tony Meehan vl.m. Daniel Joseph Anthony Meehan nar. 2. marca 1943 v Hamsteade,Londýn nahradil pôvodného hráča na bicie Terryho Smarta. Obaja predtým hrali solu v skupine The Vipers.Sobáš Harrisa s Carol DaCosta mal za následok Jetove depresie a nadmernú konzumáciu alkoholu. Lordan skupine zahral na ukulele skladbu Apache z ktorej Shadoes urobili 6 týždňový hit č.1. Richard v skladbe hral na bongach.V oktobri 1961 odišiel Meehan zo skupiny. Nahradil ho Brian Bennett nar. 9. februara 1940 v Londýne bývalý člen skupiny Wildecats. V apríli 1962 zo skupiny odišiel aj Harris,ktorého nahradil Brian Liquorice Locking bývalý člen skupiny The Krew Kats. Dvojica mala v roku 1963 v rebríčku ešte Scarlett O´Hara na 2.m. a Applejack na 4.m. V septembri 1963 skončili spoluprácu potom ako mal Harris doprvnú nehodu na A44 v Eveshame v grofstve Worchestershire pri ktorej si zlomila čelusť jeho priateľka speváčka Billie Davis.Harris zomrel 18. septembra 2001 vo Winchestri a Meehan 29. novembra 2005 v Londýne na následky poranenia hlavy po páde zo schodov v byte v Maida Vale v londýnskej štvrti Paddington.

This footage comes from the NME Poll Winners concert of 1964 which was held at the Empire Pool Wembley.Its Jet Harris backed by a group called The Innocents.Tony Meehan did not appear.The 1963 record of "Diamonds" has been played over the footage,with the actual live ending grafted on.I have seen highlights of this concert on DVD on E Bay but its not an official release.
