SWEET GEORGIA BROWN:

The 1925 song "Sweet Georgia Brown" is a jazz standard and pop tune known to many as the theme song of the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team.

"Sweet Georgia Brown" was written by Maceo Pinkard (music) and Kenneth Casey (words).

The tune was first recorded by bandleader Ben Bernie and his Orchestra. As Bernie's then nationally famous orchestra featuring the number did much to popularize the number, Pinkard cut Bernie in for a share of the tune's royalties by giving him a co-writer credit to the song.

Several artists have recorded versions of this songs. Ethel Waters recorded it in the 1920s, the California Ramblers in 1925 and Django Reinhardt in the 1930s did an instrumental version, The Beatles in 1961 working as back-up band for singer Tony Sheridan, the bands Gentle Giant and Count Basie in 1977, etc.

Jerry Lee Lewis recorded it in the mid 1970s, in the album There Must Be More To Love Than This.

The most ludicrously, intoxicatingly, blisteringly talented rock'n'roll/country/blues singer and musician of them all.

Constantly rushing = fast tempo, it was pretty steady throughout. Miserable sod. Good song!

Wow. This is truly awful. From the quote-unquote piano playing to the absurd rhythm section constantly rushing. This song used to swing and groove, but leave it to the "killer" to completely destroy the way a song is supposed to be played and play it in way only a backwoods, beer guzzling, white supremacist can love. This sucks!

Once the Killer puts that pumping thumping thundering left hand bass jump to it they all sounds good... Long live the Killer...

The killer in his best year as far as im concerned NODBODY singed like the Killer did Some people can do the piano like he did, CERTAINLY NOBODY singed AND played the piano like he did. For God sake this was THE man, a large Retro period even will never gain a substitute. I love him (im hetro) but the Killer will never dye for me. God bless you
