"Let It Be Me" was first done in French in 1955. The most popular version was done by the Everly Brothers in 1960. Although Jerry Butler and Betty Everett had done other duets earlier in 1964, "Let It Be Me" proved to be their most loved song of 1964. Released in August 1964, their version was a huge success. "Let It Be Me" charted to #5 on the Pop Chart and #1 on the R&B Chart.
