This track is part of Nuclear White Noise • Nuclear Black Noise, a composition for continuous or discrete frequency spectra.

AUDIO

In this part only sine waves (discrete frequencies) were used. Using the harmonic series, i.e. integral multiples of the fundamental frequency, an unlimited variety of sound spectra can be created (additive synthesis). To produce these waveforms the open-source audio programming software Pure Data was used.

VIDEO

What you see is what you hear. Left/right channels cause vertical/horizontal deflection on an oscilloscope, which was filmed for this video clip. Each frequency's phasing differs between both channels, so that the waveforms look different on each, whereby complex interference patterns and shapes can be created (lissajous figures).

What you see is what you hear: electrical signals.

I tryed to download the audio and it told me it would take:807766325 Days and 4 hours to download it and it would be 17179869184 GB big...I don´t think that will ever fit on my hard drive :c

One question: Is the audio related to the green stuff we see or is the green stuff the visualization of the sound?

i'm kinda new to oscilloscopes so if someone could response, that would be great!, if i understand this correctly, every oscilloscope with x-y mode is capable of handling this? so lets say, i buy this music, but then the the sound that goes in to the x and the y would get mixed so i would get a straight line when i input this, right? how do i prevent this from happening so that i can make such visuals if that is the case? do i need something else apart from a computer and a oscilloscope and witch oscilloscope do you guys recommend? a reply from someone is really aprreciated, thanx :)
