From her Decca album 'The Southern Style', that most sophisticated of singers, Jeri Southern, appeared on TV in the late 1950s to sing this Ray Noble standard, 'I Hadn't Anyone Till You', which had originally been a successful recording in 1938 by Tony Martin.

The intelligence, depth, and musicality are so startlingly present even in this brief clip that they seem to leap off the screen.

I didn't know that about the Noble tune, klrietmann. Thanks. I'm trying to find "Dancing On the Ceiling" on Yootoobe but it appears it was removed. We HAVE TO get that back. Her all time classic.

I wonder why they used that photo of her as a younger brunette for the posterboard at the end? Guess that's Pete Candoli working the bongos again, too. Jeri's favorite song was Ray Noble's tune The Very Thought of You, they say; she thought the chord changes were perfect. He wrote some real classics.
