I just saw Jeff play with Peter Stampfel a couple weeks ago as well, and I have to say, I wholeheartedly disagree with you. While the style may be different than in other eras of Jeff's music, long time fans realize Jeff has changed things up all the time through the years. As for sharing the stage with Peter- TOGETHER they pulled off a 3 part bird trilogy that included Bird is the Word, and illustrated bird porn, and a final ACOUSTIC Freebird solo. It was insane. I hope I'm that badass at 74.

not really. he spends the entire song comforting her over fairly minor problems (ie: her being scared by an octopus at an aquarium) and then when he has an existential crisis about the direction of his life, how everyone hates him, etc. she shits all over him. Then he's still nice to her, which I guess you could say is "sooo cute," but really it's just sad. Listen to more than the chorus, yo!
