Sorry been a loomis fan but not enjoying the fast stuff. No offense I could never play like him but there is too much like the last album. there were acoustical parts but he needs to make a change. i dont know but what i have listeners to seems very filmilar with his last i mean too much.

if you listen to songs like Surrender or Continuum Drift (especially Chris Poland's solo), neither of those are speedy tracks at all and they're some of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. this sampler isn't really good because it just showcases the speedy parts and the heavy parts. there's so much more to this album than what's shown here. it's like a step up in the extremeness level to Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn

it's ok, but i'm not going OMFG on his stuff. especially his more deathmetal stuff feels kinda mediocre to me. you know, mikael aekerfeldts voice and growl are some of my main reasons for listening to opeth, and there are very few guys coming close to that.
