I wish someone would invent technology to keep musicians like jeff beck from getting their eardrums blown. It seems like such a waste when a man's ears are his genius and his livelihoood that he has to destroy them for a living. But I feel the same way about great athletes having to destroy their bodies in three years to keep their jobs.

Seen that "It Might Get Loud" flick on VH1 recently - Really Surprised and Impressed at how GOOD Jack White is on guitar. AMAZING! And I'm not just saying that because he is from Detroit. The guy played some amazing licks. If anyone hasn't seen the flick I because they think it's a joke - I thought that - BOY was I WRONG! Very Interesting listening to Jimmy Page, Edge(U2), and Jack White talk about guitar.

@cosmodango I think the point Joe Satriani was making about Jeff Beck was - FIRST,, WHO would have imagined Jeff was gonna come out of retirement - after that bit with GNR, according to Slash Jeff plugged into one of his(Slash's) stacks, Slash's gear is tweaked loud and WHAM Jeff's ear(tinnitus) kicked in and that was the last anyone heard of Jeff Beck until he came out with Who Else??!! Unbelievable! SECOND, Jeff plays stuff now from Wired/Blow by Blow era - just - NAILS IT.

He "writes" songs that are most rip offs of old blues and metal riffs that have been used to death. So where is this talent? He made it because he was the quirky flavor of the month and got lucky. Good for him. Bands like the Trash Brats and Bootsey X and the Lovemasters have more real rock and roll talent than this idiot anyday.

@yourtubesteak I live in Detroit myself so that one doesn't work on me. There ARE better bands. And I know how a lot of them feel about The White Stripes round here. It doesn't matter what you say, you still seem like a bitter old man, and with your attitude (of an asshole, apparently) it's no wonder you never made it out of here. I agree Jeff Beck is a genius, but Jack White is in his own way if you like him or not. Don't patronise me, it doesn't do you any favours.
