That was really good!!! Considering that the studio version has so mant overdubbeds. Jeff did use a early model fuzz in The Yardbirds but this sounds like pure Marshall tone with a Les Paul (of course). He did have a wah wah for these early Jeff Beck Group performances.

It sounds better with Jimmy Page, I think.

I heard that JB used a Tonebender distortion device. Also why do you say 100W or 200W? I thought he played 50W Marshall. One other detail bass turned off.

What? how can you say this is from Dallas? What do you know about effects here? This not seems to be a fuzz distortion to me...

This is Jeff Beck Group LuAnne's Dallas TX, 7/17/68 Actually , this is the first US tour, Beck was using 100 watt heads and Marshall SupaFuzz, I'm really convinced oct- dec 68 Beck was consistantly using 200 watt heads.

The only things I know about Beck gears in that period are that he owned two kinds of Marshall stacks: 100 Watts head plus 2 cabs (the most famous config of all times) and a 200 Watts head (called "The Pig") with 2 cabs. This last configuration is very rare (Mick Ronson owned it) and it's got just 3 knobs: volume, treeble and bass. Tr and bass are active so that you can really add or remove volume to the high frequencies or to the bass frequencies. Ronnie Wood used Beck's 200 Watt with bass.

no distortion devices at that time (except for fuzz pedals). Here Jeff Beck has just powerful Marshall Amps at a real high volume that he can get that crunchy and sustained tone to be able to play this one. Good tube amps allows you to do many things...

I think RS played guitar on some of their songs. Does anyone know what distortion device JB would be playing on this song?
