As a former Gulf of Mexico deep water fisherman, I loved this song from the first time I heard it way back in 1979, but, I must say, this song has taken on a whole new meaning since I started watching "Deadliest Catch" on the Discovery Channel six years ago. Those fishing vessels in Dutch Harbor go through "greenhorns" like underwear! The majority of those aspiring seafarers do not successfully make it through their first offshore fishing trip. It is "their" Shakedown Cruise!
