Well, I learned something new, too: handwhistling! Never heard of this before, went to your place and listened to you. That's amazing.

Thank you for telling me the truth. Yes, both Jay and Johnny should be inducted.

Although the earliest reports said Johnny Maestro had died of a heart attack, the actual cause was cancer. Johnny had released a message for his fans that morning, and he said their support was the biggest reason he would be back onstage. The message is posted somewhere on YT. Still loved by millions, Johnny still hasn't been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Many fans have joined to try to make this happen. He and Jay Black should both be there!

On this day in 1965 {July 28th} Jay and the Americans performed "Cara, Mia" on the ABC-TV program 'Shindig!' One month earlier on June 5th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #4 & spent 13 weeks on the Top 100 The song was originally recorded in 1954 by David Whitfield; and on July 2nd, 1954 reached #1 {for 10 weeks} in the United Kingdom R.I.P. Jimmy O'Neill {Shindig's host, 1940 - 2013}, Mr. Whitfield {1925 - 1980}, & lead singer Jay Black turns 75 on Nov. 2nd

Jay still had a fantastic operatic voice here at 74 years old! Johnny Maestro kept his fantastic voice up to 70 when he died suddenly of heart attack. Engelbert and Johnny Mathis, well into their 70's still have great voices. And, Tony Bennett, still crooning out songs at 86! Thank you for posting this wonderful concert. Jay did this song with the Alley Cats for a PBS Special in 2011 that is up here. The sound is richer.
