Boat on a hill, never going to sea.

Anchored to a fixer upper's

dream.

This boat is beat, never going to be a boat now.

Thirsty, sees the sea from high on ice plant.

He keeps patching it and painting.

Thinking about his pension plan.

But the boat is out to pasture.

Seems it never had a chance.

I wanna be a boat. I wanna learn to swim

Then I'll learn to float. Then begin again.

Boat remembers the carpenter's sure hand.

Missing fishy flutter on it's rudder.

Sold at an auction, on a dolly ever since.

Sometimes rainy days bring boyish wonder.

Jawbreaker's 24 Hour Revenge Therapy came out 20 years ago yesterday. I went to college with Chris and Blake and saw them play some tiny shows in NYC before they moved to San Fran and things really took off for them. This song always got a lively response at ABC No Rio shows and is a favorite.

I saw John K Samson and his band(with special guest Shotgun Jimmie on guitar) last week, and John announced we was going to do a cover by Jawbreaker. I immediately screamed "FUCK YEAH!!!!" and John goes "Hey got a 'fuck yeah!'" and they bust into this song. I nearly shit my pants.

@polcsek10 this songs more punk than emo, jawbreaker always was more punk. Emo is really just punk but with alot of personal material in the lyrics. It actually started with another good band Rites Of Springs, they were called it because there shows got so emotional some people cried at them.
