These lyrics are simple amazing. They make sense listening to them, but the contrast of what the guitar and fiddle (violin) are playing compared to the lyrics and how they are sung, give this song a much deeper greater feeling and meaning with a real sense of emotion indescribable by even the most complex words. There is no other way to sing what he is singing. He does and amazing job writing music like this.

I get chills right down all of the bones of my body when I listen to this song and sing it out loud. Live Oak and Isbell's performance go to show how a song can truly captivate a listener and drag raw emotions out of that person.

I know you're sober now Jason, but damn your music makes me want a drink. I mean that in the best way. Haunting, beautiful stuff.

Darn, I'll be stuck on Southeastern at least a month now that I listened again. Been addicted all year! Would be alright having my wife on tour if she were Amanda Shires!

This song gives me the chills every time. Jason can make you feel emotions from his music with ease. Amanda is a damn nice touch to this song as well. Props to both of you. Keep the music coming.

I don't know how I'd never heard of Jason and Amanda (and their band when playing in that format), but I'm just plain old glad I found them now and I can't get enough... Great music for sure and you can just feel every note and harmony between their voices, his guitar and her fiddle. Truly beautiful stuff.

Fantastic performance. Isbell is becoming one of THE great American Singer- Songwriters. Southeastern is his best work to date (Solo or with DBT). It can be a tough listen, but that's the point. Jason Isbell's conviction as a musician and as an artist shine through here.
