note to those who dont know--- years later this was "edited" with musicians and sounds and made to sound more "full". This was recorded in a folkie style before she joined BBHC ....just a note, This was "enhanced" much later still great tho

Love Janis, she fled Texas in search of something 'different/ better', and ended up on the wrong end of the drug scene.I'm also a Texan, and was once a codeine addict (Tylenol #4 X 8 a day), because of a back injury. Next came benzos (benzodiazepine-valium, Ativan, Xanax), when I first started taking all this crap, it worked great- NO PAIN.BUT, then you get used to it, but have to keep taking it whether it quells pain or not. SO you start drinking heavier, and heavier, etc. til you find yourself counting the minutes til time for your next pill, or drink. This went on for 8 yr. in my case. One day I just got tired of feeling sick and tired, and decided to go cold turkey on the codeine and benzos, and it worked, and wasn't really as bad as I'd expected. BUT, hear me here PLEASE, one day, 2 years later (yes 2 yr.), I thought to myself " I feel like I did when I was 20 y.o.". It literally took that long for me to feel ' like myself'.I clearly had a quack doctor, when you consider he kept throwing all these scripts at me for all those years. My last words will be those of advice without 'preaching', don't let songs etc. glamourize opiate or benzo use.I consider myself lucky to get out of that hole as easily as I did.

Never heard this one before--it's an absolute stunner, given how her life played out. This has got to be her most powerful song. It leaves me speechless.

Anyone know where you can buy this album? It's my favorite song she's ever done and I can't find it anywhere.
