The song is sung in a classic Aussie drawl, lyrics included below...Every morning when I wake from my bedI find I'm yawning just a-scratchin' my headI face the dawning and I feel like I'm deadI been sleeping all aloneWell, every daybreak as I wake from my sleepI find I'm aching as I drag from the deepIf I were a Mustang, I'd be a junkyard heapMirror don't lie, mirror don't lieTalk about a rolling stoneEverybody said, "What's that sound?"Put it in a skillet and a-slap it all aroundAnd everybody said, "I can't stay home"Still thinking 'bout the fall of RomeStill thinking 'bout the fall of RomeWell, all these dragons are just a-draggin' me downI've been picking things up from the undergroundLike a trackless tram, I'm Bondi boundSitting in the depot all aloneNo purity no clear white wallsJust a big stampede when the Warragul callsTimes a-menacing just gnashes and maulsWhere am I gonna buy it, where am I gonna buy it?Gotta give a dog a boneEverybody said, "What's that sound?"Put it in a skillet and a'slap it all aroundAnd everybody said, "I can't stay home"Still thinking 'bout the fall of RomeStill thinking 'bout the fall of RomeI've been thinking 'bout the fall of RomeWell, I've been living a categorical lieEach last thrill the penultimate highJust one more hit before I can dieYellow teeth are snappin' all aroundWell, every daybreak as I wake from my bedI find I'm aching just a-scratchin' my headIf I were a Mustang I think it's gone to my headMirror don't lie, mirror don't lieTalk about a rolling stoneEverybody said, "What's that sound?"Put it in a skillet and a-slap it all aroundAnd everybody said, "I can't stay home"Still thinking 'bout the fall of RomeEverybody said, "What's that sound?"Put it in a skillet and a-slap it all aroundAnd everybody said, "I can't stay home"Still thinking 'bout the fall of RomeStill thinking 'bout the fall of RomeStill thinking 'bout the fall of RomeStill thinking 'bout the fall of RomeI've been thinking 'bout the fall of Rome"Fall Of Rome" was written by Reyne, James Michael.

First time I have ever seen this video, which is suprising, being that I love the song so much and James' debut solo LP. Surprised you would have paid $9.99 for a 7" single, more likely $2.99. And back then 12" singles were around $6.00.

This is the first rockin' tune I heard when I touched down in London in '89. I knew I was home.
