AbbyNormal777- Jackson and Glen Frey wrote the tune together. Lindley also plays on the original cut, on the eponymously titled: "Jackson Browne" album. Most people think it's titled: "Saturate Before Using" because of the "desert water bag." Either way, it was one of my favorite records and I still have two vinyl copies of it. Elektra/Asylum wanted them to remove the words and Jackson said: "No way, Jose."

The lyrics for this song Take It Easy came about from a talk with me and Jackson back in 1972 then he came to visit his girlfriend and he asked me questions about how I kept from being caught as I was on the run from the Army for being a deserter. When I found out he was taking notes I had him swear never to tell anyone where he got his lyrics. But now that we both are old and I am almost to be 67. I hope it's alright to tell some fans of Jackson Brown this now. If anyone here runs across him please tell him I would like to say hi and its OK with me now to let things be known.Take it easy,Toney Burkhart

I think Jackson wrote the first part of this song & put it down; one of the Eagles, picked it up & added "the girl in the flat bed Ford"...Jackson let the Eagles record it..
