Hello Ms. Acklin, Jr. It's moments like these the internet is truly a dream come true! I actually enjoyed this song just a bit more than Higher and Higher. It was a close call but I have to give it to this one. I actually bought your mum's greatest hits CD around '95 or so and in the liner notes she mentioned this song. It put Jackie back on the map and he told her whatever he could do for her he'd make it happen. She wanted to record and the rest is history. On a side note, I believe she also co-wrote the Chi-Lites Have You Seen Her and Stoned Out of My Mind. No need for the internet to know those two gems, I just read the names on the credits off the Brunswick 45's when I was a wee tike ; ) Anywho, I do wish you and the rest of the family the very best...

So much less formal that Night and Alone At Last. I remember a lto of his songs on the charts back in the 60s. It was great music when you could listen to AM radio.

The black Elvis? I don't know, yet this little diddy did it for me! Loved its rather modern day attempt at being so funky before that term was even established as a term!

She was Barbara Acklin, who wrote this song. She was one of producer Carl Davis' Chicago Brunswick staff, and worked a lot with Jackie from 1966-70, when Nat Tarnopol sent Jackie to Davis, in Chicago, to revive his fading career.

Barbara Acklin JR. Love, all I can say is a very big thank you , we in England love the music of Chicago, Record and Acklin what a songwriting team . I am privileged to have lived through that great era of songwriting.

Eddie Vance. In my mind there are 5 areas of the USA famous for music. 1 New York 2 Philadelphia 3 Detroit 4 Chicago 5 Los Angeles, obviously there is many more , but these to me are the most important.
