more recent reports when CBC did a doc piece on him, have Jackie living with his aunt in Memphis. he did not die young. he had, however, completely left the biz years before.

My Mum was a go-go dancer in the 60s in Toronto, and met Jackie at The Hawks Nest on Yonge Street (owned by famed Ronnie Hawkins). My mum actually dated him, but she knew it was a ruse to hide his homosexuality. When Jackie was having a BBQ, and only invited boys, my Dad (who didn't really know my Mum), stepped in and invited her to the prom. The rest is history. Jackie dissapeared, and it was reported that we died. Many speculations about the cause,but nothing concrete. An amazing talent!

please, cannot hear the radio interview with him,. The voices of Angel Face and Jackie Shane are uncannily close, + theres the Frank Motley connection to, going back to the early 50's , he did move to Toronto in '56 so i was told, i am compiling a comp. which will include Angel Face on the "DC" label release 'Listen Baby'

I'm 20 and I just learned about Jackie Shane today. I've had this track on repeat fo several hours. I tried looking up some info on him, even a bio and nothing. ='[ I have some new found respect for Jackie Shane. This record is lovely.
