Part 2 of 2: In the early 90's St. Ides promoted its 40oz malt liquor brand by running commercials featuring everyone from Ice Cube and 2Pac to Biggie, EPMD and the Wu-Tang Clan. In part 2 of this interview J-Zone talks about the burst of nostalgic inspiration he experienced one day while watching reruns of the commercials. What started off as a single song he had made for kicks was expanded into the album "Chief Chinchilla: Live @ The Liquor Sto" after J-Zone played the song for E-Swift of The Alkaholiks who loved it so much he suggested J make an entire album about the 40oz. While at first listen this album may seem like a simple case of J-Zone sowing his hip-hop cultural roots, further research reveals that J may have actually related to the malt liquor on a much deeper, spiritual level. You see, J-Zone, who talks about attending Sunday school and eventually undergoing a Catholic Confirmation in his youth, may have been pre-disposed to this particular brand of 40oz because of his faith which spawned Saint Ita, also known as Saint Ida or Saint Ides, an Irish nun born in the year 475. J-Zone reveals himself to be more than a man drunk off the religious cross he may unbeknowingly bare however, as he makes a case for balance in hip-hop, deading the (over)use of the Vocoder and talking about the artists who inspired characters like Chief Chinchilla and Quasimoto to usher in the genre of the alter-ego in hip-hop. Oh! And if you're wondering what classic albums to purchase from UGHH.com, J-Zone gives you his favorites

"Get your girl in the mood quicker, make your jimmy thicker, St. Ides" - Ice Cube (St. Ides commercial).
