My grandmother Nanetta Litle (on my mother's side) just passed away this morning. Two years earlier, my grandad, Richard Litle, passed away and since then she had been feeling sad and had been reduced to sitting in a wheelchair. Me and my family helped her in whatever need she required (got up at eight each morning, prepared her breakfast, wheeled her in and out of her room, checked up on her every few minutes, prepared her lunch, got her the daily paper, prepared her dinner, took care of her medication) and she always seemed so quiet and content. She didn't want us to feel sad for her or think she was a burden.When she suddenly caught the flu and started to grow weaker and weaker, we became worried and scared. The last time I saw her, she was being taken to the hospital; I had hugged her and said "I hope you get better."Last night, my Aunt Lisa from Kansas city, MO visited and stayed with her all night in the hospital. She sent us a text that told us Nanette was feeling sad, disconnected, and was ready to leave this world and rejoin Grandad in Heaven. I was hoping that she would stay with us for at least another year or two, but I didn't want her to suffer or be miserable anymore. So, I prayed to God and asked Him to allow her to die peacefully and also to give my mother and Aunt Lisa one last chance to say goodbye to her. I'm happy that He had heard my prayer.I know things are going to be very different and difficult without Nanetta and Granddad in our lives; to me, they were two of the best grandparents that anyone would be blessed to have. But I also know that God is always here to comfort us whenever we are sad and filled with grief. Wherever Nanetta is now, my only hope is that she is in Granddad's arms once again and is crying tears of joy. And I hope that we'll be crying tears of joy when next we see her and Granddad again. Until then, it is well with my soul.
