Crosby set the standard, he didn't lack a connection, otherwise a young Sinatra wouldn't have taken to his singing in the first place.

Bing and Frank were the two greatest singers of the 20th century. I enjoyed the other singers mentioned here also. Ella was the greatest female singer in my opinion.

Edwin Lamarr "Buddy" Cole was a great keyboard technician and all around pianist/organist. A great talent!

@HeardThatSongBefore Good Statements. You should listen to Don Cornell, (he's one of my favorites for a big voice crooner)... Listen to his Be Fair of 1952 (its on YouTube) big voice in that one.

Actually, this is from a special "GENERAL ELECTRIC THEATER" telecast in January 1954; the first of two filmed "BING CROSBY SHOW" specials that season [at that time, Bing appeared on radio for G.E. on CBS Sunday nights {8pm(et)}, and they wanted him to appear on TV as well, but he didn't want to go on "live"- they finally allowed him to film two half-hours before they parted company at the end of that season]. Note the "CBS curtain"...
