Here are some bands you should look into for where this music comes from: start with Deep Purple who are Bruce's favourite band. Also: The Yardbirds, The Who, The Move, Led Zeppelin (I know kind of obvious, but a good example), Home (lots of twin guitar interplay and great songs), Horse (from 1969 this is an album of only OK songs, but great vocals), Wishbone Ash, Thin Lizzy, The Kinks (as I said "You Really Got Me" started all this), Cream, Uriah Heep, Black Widow, Black Sabbath, Coven, Iron Maiden the 1969 band who were like this band in 1969 although there is no connection between the two bands, Elf (Ronnie Dio's band), Rainbow (early stuff with Dio influenced a lot of Maiden), Zior (they are only decent, but really heavy), and not to forget UFO and Warhorse who are two outstandingly great bands. Most heavy metal inspirations come from Britain or Europe so not surprising that most of the best metal is British or European. I'm American, but I don't think highly of much of our metal bands and I do think we have some great ones, but a lot of bad ones. I made the statement yesterday that you don't listen to Iron Maiden for the right reasons and looking at all the comments here that is painfully obvious. Stop with the hate mongering don't you know "The Trooper" is an anti-war song!!!!!? It's about the disastrous Charge Of The Light Brigade in the Crimean war where thousands of British soldiers most of them very young boys died. Think about what you say before you say it. Iron Maiden are not a hate band.

Truth be told I love Iron Maiden yes I do very much, but I'm sick of their stupid fans and I'm sick of metal fans who are ignorant and stupid like most are. Grow up and appreciate all the good music out there stop pretending you're so tough and you have power over ME. You have no power over me or Iron Maiden or any of the bands you claim to represent whilst you are degrading them. You don't even know what this song is about. You don't know the roots of HEAVY FUCKING METAL. It began back in 1966 or arguably had its roots in "You Really Got Me." Iron Maiden, especially Bruce, don't need your tiny pimply prejudiced narrow minds as an insult to their brilliant music and if you write me one more time I will do what I always do I will block you because you aren't even worth a fucking reply.
