As far as I'm concern, Ali Campbell is a living legend! I absolutely love this guy and I think he should be knighted. I'm really happy to hear that he’s reclaimed the Birmingham group’s name in a bid to rescue the band’s legacy. My life has had its ups and downs but Groovin' always puts a smile back on my face. I'm looking forward to the new record! Thanks Ali!

I am amazed at listening to his voice here in the interview: deep deep voice I would say probably a natural baritone. Yet when you hear him sing with UB40 there are times where he reaches a higher register it doesn't really sound like a falsetto like you hear the Bee Gees or Aaron Neville. His unique voice and accent (an Island accent in song) have really become a signature of many of the UB40 songs...it just doesn't sound right sung by anybody else. All the best to Ali but we'll miss him.

He must feel a fool when he listens to this interview because he has done precisely that( to the band) over money & he must not be a ‘more pleasant person then that’ then he wants us to believe My comments were how sad is that! And how much money does a guy need?? It seems money has superseded his love for the music or band.Hey its just one persons opinion who loved him just for his talent.

The official reason cited my Ali Campbell (of his departure) is money disagreements ie his not getting enough. If you have listened to it, (40 sec to 65 sec on part 5)then you will have heard Ali Campbell say “I wouldn’t do that to the band, I’m a more pleasant person then that” in reply to a question of why he doesn’t go solo.

@hsp2007 : I listened to that particular part of the interview twice, just to make sure before commenting. Ali Campbell (in my view) does not mention any money or financial motive whatsoever to leave the band.

listen to his comments at 40 sec to 65 sec(on part 5) .he did leave the band over money how sad is that? my question to ali is how much money do you need after 30 years of success?? the word GREEDY comes to mind, but i suppose that's the way our world is going.
