The John Barry Seven. Athough seen in its most famous Line up, The Bass Player Mike Peters.(Successer to Fred Kirk) He had an early Hofner 5001 Bass, But Fred Kirk, Had the first one in the UK, And long before Paul of The Beatles ever got hold of one,

Tasteful soloing from Vic Flick. I wonder why they didn't use this version as the single? Perhaps it evolved as they played it on the road.

Agree 100% with your remarks telkeato....thanks fschnell for posting this.....Dennis King was a friend of mine, (he's the sax player on Vic Flick's left and John Barry's right). Sadly Dennis is no longer with us, he passed away in 1992....this clip takes me back to the good old days of live music on TV when "what you saw was what you got". I may be biased but IMHO the 50s/60s/70s were a golden era which the Karaoke shows of today will never match.

Poor old John! Onstage, he played horn or did vocals - but "Hit And Miss" (composed and orchestrated by him) only has parts for Vic Flick on guitar, plus Mike Peters on bass and those four pizzicato strings - presumably supplied here from the pit (Jack Parnell - or was this before his reign?) So here, John has to stand next to an equally-mute sax-player, knowing that had it not been for him, "Hit And Miss" would not have existed (and later, half the best music to be written in the Sixties!)
