Does anybody else feel like this sounds like John Lennon's "Beautiful boy"

A different sort of wild west hero than e l o's. An indian's point of view this time. Jeff nailed both viewpoints. I went to gig after gig of the idle race in the late 60's. Used to talk to all of the band, great guys. Always knew Jeff would make it big. never a doubt.

Oh, sorry. Well, I can assure you it's there. And it's the same sound effect.

Listen on some good headphones, that's the best way to hear it. The sound effect starts in the left speaker at 1:57, then you will hear it again at 2:12, traveling from left to right. It's the same train effect that starts "Across The Border." How can you not hear it?

Starting at 1:57, listen to the sound effect of the train....it's the same exact one that was used in ELO's song "Across The Border" on the "Out Of The Blue" album!

The chief whose portrait appears at 1.08-1.17 is Red Cloud of the Lakota Sioux, one of the most successful Native American leaders. He survived all the conflicts his tribe were involved in and died at a ripe old age in 1909.

This song is half- psycedelic. Jeff Lynne was a great song writer from very beginning.

I've always seen this as General Custard's Las Stand - only in reverse.

I remember in 1985 when I caught Light at the End of the Road which included this song. Jeff Lynne was beyond the major view. Underrated genius.

I've always found the whine of those sped-up guitar fills amusing. I suppose Lynne was attempting to invoke the sound of the "big chief's baby son" crying.
