According to the semi-official site HunterMott.com, Ian "has said he thought Waterlow was the best song he'd ever written for Mott." But some critics of that period (and the less than successful 3rd album Wildlife, 1971) were not so generous, explaining "he tries so hard to be gorgeous and moody and anthemic and universalist and sweeping at the same time, but instead is just unoriginal and insipid." You decide.

Have loved Mott and Ian for some 35 years now - this is my favourite Ian Hunter song. As for the critics - they are dinosaurs now in our modern world. This is a lovely version of a great song.

Great song, one of Ian's best ever, wrote it for his daughter Tracie after the breakup of his first marriage.

Out of Ian's softer ballads, the ones I like best are 1) Rest in Peace 2) Sea Diver 3) Waterlow (version on the Wild album).

One of, if not, the most beautiful song he ever wrote. Never thought I would ever see him perform it live. MottOne, thanks a million for posting this from "Strings Attached" DVD.
