All American Alien Boy is the second solo album of Ian Hunter. Because of management issues, Mick Ronson wouldn't appear on this album. Instead, he brought in Chris Stainton in order to act as balancing force in the studio. Unlike his previous album, the album didn't feature any of his trademark rockers and he opted for a more jazzy direction.

In 2006, the album was reissued with several bonus tracks.

Personnel:

* Ian Hunter: Lead vocals, Rhythm guitar, Piano, Backing vocals

* Chris Stainton: Piano, Organ, Mellotron, Bass guitar on "Restless Youth"

* Jaco Pastorius: Bass guitar

Ian Hunter stated on his website that lead guitar was Jerry Weems. Mick Ronson was off somewhere with Dylan. Jerry was an exceptional player who never quite got the recognition. When Ronnie Montrose left the Edgar Winter Group, Jerry filled in before Rick Derringer. His guitar of preference during that time was a white Gibson SG.

I'd been listening to this song for about 15yrs. Then I did it, went to the Us. 20 yrs later I came back. That was a long holiday. Hunter is so right in his lyrics, its not funny. Love the US of A, thanks Mr Hunter.

Remember the line from the Queen song "Now I'm Here" - "Down in the city; just Hoople & me"? References when Queen supported MtH.

I heard this song and used Soundhound to purchase it off iTunes. Of course this was played on the radio but what I got from iTunes was a cleaned up version, no bass no piano heard so strong.... guess I'll have to rip from here and convert... DO NOT GET FROM iTUNES, YOU'LL GET SHAFTED.
