I think Karen sings the more soulful songs better, I definitely lover her version of "Never Give all the Heart" more than Ivy's, she captured the meaning of the song with her voice, but this one was better suited for Megan Hilty, she played with the lyrics a lot and definitely belted it where it counted.

Could you upload Ivy's full version?

I always preferred Karen's innocent baby Broadway Marilyn

I really wish there was a third season of Smash. Since Ivy became pregnant, Karen could have left Hit List and joined Bombshell while Ivy was on maternity leave. Derek would have definitely supported the decision all around. Meanwhile, we could see the formation of a new musical by Jimmy in jail, and Tom could be cooking up something new too.

I prefer Ivy's version and I think Karen is way too skinny to play Marilyn. But shes still amazing

I loved this show! And Karen was a great Manroe but in some instances-this song for example- Ivy just had the better suited voice. Karen did better second season in her role, suited her better I think. So wish this show didn't end and the went with the movie themed 3rd season!

Although I prefer Ivy's singing on this particular song, this version of it with the dancing and the lyrics is my favorite

Before judging who's performance is better you need to look at the context of the performance, this was Karens first dress rehearsal for this number and she was suppose to play the innocent non experienced broadway performer.

Im a firm believer in "everyone is entitled to their own opinion"but thats just it, its your OPINIONyou people really need to stop with the "this version is far better than Ivy's" or "This is terrible, Ivy did it so much better" and all the excess hate on both Katherine mcphee (karen) or Megan Hilty (Ivy) Both versions are amazing in unique ways and quite frankly, your hate on either of the performances doesn't make a shred of difference. even if the show hadn't been cancelled.

good singing, but this part is not for karen. karen kinda blends in with the other dancers. If you don't focus on her, you won't notice her there, lol. it's because her body language is not loud enough to give her a stage presence. she needs to practice her body language more.

That "Oooh Frankie!" was so essential to the performance XD

This seems okay until you compare it to Ivy's. You can see K adapted a lot from Ivy's performance, but K kind of looks like a boy in drag. K's "superior" dance skill pays off how as she tossed from group to group?K's Marilyn in "Public Relations" is soooo much better. I think she could go back and cut better performances after her Smash experience. "Public Relations" shows she's capable. I think it may have been too much too soon for her. I would guess if she shot the series now, she'd get a much more positive reaction.

I love Karen, however Ivy did this song soooo much better. I love them both but Ivy has that powerful broadway voice that fits this song better

I hate that this show was cancelled!!!!!!! I am the kind of woman who loves musicals and shows about the creation of musicals, I don't understand how this wasn't popular enough to stay on TV. Damn the big wigs who decide what shows to cancel!!!!!!!. Nowadays a small drop in ratings guarantees a shows demise. I can't believe shows like Honey Boo Boo, Dance moms and the shows about men with five wives are still on TV and this isn't...not to mention shows like the Bachelor!!!!!! There isn't enough money to pay me to watch those shows. I truly miss Smash, the lights are a little dimmer on the metaphorical TV show stage without them!

In the words of Katharine McPhee, "let's face it, Megan Hilty was a much better Marilyn than I was."

karen cartwright has no vigour or love for marilyn as a character or person when she sings, its just her singing in a wig...

Liked this version, maybe better than Ivy. This was how Marilyn got on (Karen) wish it was single
