Like a portrait or a painting, you interpret it in your own way... to me it speaks as an issue of PTSD, you want to find peace, you want to live... but once you come back, it's hard to attain, to live, to adjust. Depeche mode speaks to the soul, it's not always angsty and emo but real and raw. I know I cry like her.. no matter how much everything may seem "OK,"I struggle to find peace... "Walk in other peoples shoes"= that's what DM has always been about.. In my humble opinion...

Depeche Mode videos suck now, They are not about the band anymore but some unknown people we don't care about. Videos like the ones from MFTM and Violator used to be excellent, thanks to Anton. What happened? Videos now are as bad as the ones they did at the beginning of the band!

It's pretty obvious she was raped overseas...the horror of the war coupled with this horrendous experience has produced post-traumatic stress syndrome. These are flashbacks. She can't adapt to civil life because psychically she's fractured; the restaurant, people eating is so trivial compared to the nightmare she just survived.
