I love and miss Hoyt. One of my very favorite Oklahoma natives, with Woody Guthrie and Roger Miller.

Axton was as smooth as silk. I recall an appearance on Carson where he was supposed to sing and tell a few jokes, probably lasting 3 minutes. He was bombing but kept on the audience. Carson let him go and he held the mic for some 15 minutes until he figured them out and had them rolling in the aisles. What a professional. After that I couldn't get enough of him.

Another winner!! This is the first song I learned on my guitar......in the 60's in CA, when I escaped for the summer from NY!! I thought it was just a traditional song..
