If they saw the "History Of The Eagles", then they certainly know Jackson Browne and J.D. Souther's connection to the Eagles. Both were interviewed for the documentary.

Correct, that is Jackson Browne. That pic is from a photo shoot of the Eagles' album "Desperado" in 1973 where he and Souther were portrayed as executed outlaws on the album cover's flip side.

I believe this song was actually co-written by James "Sonny" Throckmorton and someone named D. Snyder. Don't know who Snyder is, but Throckmorton is in the Nashville Songwriters' Hall of Fame, with over 1,000 of his songs recorded. As much as I like and respect SD Souther, I don't believe he wrote this song. If I'm wrong, please let me know and tell me where I can find the reference. Thanks.

The true great song writer who never sold out.How did Frey and Henley end up so far outfront when Souther could write a song that would have true clarity? JD far surpasses his peers.
