Album The Next Day (2013)

[Verse 1]

There's a graveyard by the station where the girls

Wear mammal skirts and sandals of honey

The boys are the real ones, they're probably the guilted

? Service and greed

That's where we made our tryst and struggled with our guns

Would you still love me if the clocks could go backwards?

The grass was filed with blood, and the grass will be green

He can't remember the dead, they were so great, celebrate

[Chorus]

Ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya

Ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya,

How does the grass grow? Blood, blood, blood

Ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya

Ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya,

Where do the boys lie? Mud, mud, mud

How does the grass grow? Blood, blood, blood

[Verse 2]

I lived a blind life, a wife is a prison

But you made a life out of nothing ?

Black boots ? more than you'll ever, ever

? eyes and a stone heart

[Bridge]

I gaze in defeat at the stars in the night

The light in my life burns away

There will be no tomorrow,

Then you sigh in your sleep

And meaning returns with the day

[Chorus]

The lyrics provided are wrong. Sublime song though, definitely one of my top ten favourite songs by Bowie

This track reminds me of Sweet Thing - Candidate from Diamond Dogs, just weird, funky and epic. Love it!

It's because it is the chorus from Apache by The Shadows.

The "lalala" sounds a bit too much like Apache by The Shadows.....

You are absolutely right! Berlin trilogy is awesome. I love Bowie's "german era". I love movie Wir kinder von Bahnhof Zoo, because the scene from the concert is just breathtaking. Máš naprostou pravdu! Berlínská trilogie je úžasná! Miluju bowieho "německou éru". Miluju film my děti ze stanice zoo, kvůli té dechberoucí scéně z koncertu. Jinak....Je fajn, že se najde nějaký čech, který má vážně hodně rád bowieho ;)!

This is definetly the best Bowie's song ever. I am a long time Bowie fan and I always loved the Berlin trilogy albums the most. But THIS is the most epic masterpiece of pure genius. I wish there is a live version soon.
