Actually Larry, it sounds to me like you really haven't gotten over it at all. You're still in pain.

Songs are about the human experience. Many of us lost dads to their selfishness. People can be 'over it' and still have wishes and regrets/bitterness. I still don't know my dad. I see how my husband is to my kids and inside I wish i had it, and am so glad I broke a cycle and picked a good man as their father. We're still allowed to be angry and stuff. Where was my dad? Doing his selfish thing. I don't care about him. He didn't shape me, and I don't need the reunion drama. Stop judging others.

I think it sounds like you aren't over it. He's letting his feelings out. Its therapeutic. Plus if you don't like it don't listen to it.

Both my wife and I grew up without our dads but you don't see us crying about it. We hold no bitter feelings. Things happen. People make mistakes. I've made my share. Quit whining and get over it. Baby.

It's hard to listen to this song to the end. Mainly because I (and so many others) can relate to it on such a deep, personal level that I just don't want to accept the fact that my father was just like this. I wanted to ignorantly disregard it but no matter how hard I try, the truth always has a way of tearing theough

This one was never released in the USA officially because it is about Darius Ruckers dad and he didn't want him hearing it originally.

They have only released it in Europe because this was about his dad. His dad was hardly around when he was a kid. He only wanted it released in Europe so it would lessen the chances of his dad hearing it.
