On this day in 1975 {August 15th} Helen Reddy was the host on the NBC-TV musical variety late-night program 'The Midnight Special"...At the time her "Ain't No Way To Treat A Lady"* was at #62 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, a little over seven weeks later it would peak at #8 {for 2 weeks} and it spent 16 weeks on the Top 100...And on September 26th it peaked at #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart...On the Canadian RPM Singles chart it peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} on October 11th, the two songs that kept it out of the top spot were "Third Rate Romance" by the Amazing Rhythm Aces and "I'm Sorry" by John Denver...While in her native Australia it only reached #94 on the Kent Music chart...Between 1971 and 1981 she had twenty one songs make the Top 100; six made the Top 10 with half of them reaching #1, "I Am Woman" for 1 week in 1972, "Delta Dawn" for 1 week in 1973, and "Angie Baby" for 1 week in 1974...Helen Maxine Lamond Reddy will celebrate her 76th birthday in two months on October 25th {2017}...* She did not perform 'Ain't No Way To Treat A Lady" on this episode of 'The Midnight Special'???
