Servitude or Regicide? hmm Both can bring glory and both can bring strife... Which would you choose?

@TheWorldisJCK This isn't about the American Revolution. This is a song she wrote for the Society For Creative Anachronism. Basically a society that does Mediaeval re-enactments. They even elect a new king either every year or every few years. So get off your high horse, yes we did a good thing by fighting the British but the government has gone downhill almost as soon as it started.

You bow because the one that receives your bow is worthy of it. You bow to no one you don't respect.

I see a medieval tourney, hand to hand combat. Especially vivid as I participate in medieval reenactment and my sweetheart carries my token as he fights. T'was all friendly competition in olden days, unless specifically requested as a fight to the death. But it was simple protocol to first bow to the royalty there, ('the crown') and then to eachother. Rather like any martial arts competition today- you bow to the judge as a sign of respect, not servitude, and same with your competitor. :)

I hate to point it out, guys, but it's not saying be loyal to a literal crown. The song is saying be loyal to those who lead you, be respectful to your opponent and remember that they fight as hard as hard as you do. It's not telling you to literally bow to any man.

@TheWorldisJCK son even if t'were 1000ad I'd bow to no crown what didn't earn it from me. Either working at my side or fighting my side. Still true today...I bow to none what haven't earned it.

the one person to dislike this was punished for not bowing to the throne :P *runs from the weapons that will be used against me because comments like these are rather dumb but totally unavoidable*

@Rilan11 How can it be honestly said to be any better to have as your leader someone with no experience, who has done very little for themselves or others, but who has the ability to get votes? Is that honestly better or more "right"?
