1965 single by ex tornado Heinz. Produced by Joe Meek. Heinz died in 2000 of Motor Neurone Disease, something I, unfortunately, know a lot about.

Meek recorded his records with loads of compression and for play back on the 'record players' of the day hence they don't sound so good in hi-fidelity but hey sounds great to me

There was an incredible band called the Black Diamonds (formerly The Nashville Ramblers) who were from San Diego (and sometimes SF and NYC) who used to cover this song back in the '80s. Saw them at a reunion show in Benidorm, Spain a few years ago and they played it. I was thrilled!

I have to say that you have made his day! He never talks about his music and he only mentioned this song today. That is why I searched it on You Tube. The Heart Full of Sorrow demo is actually him - not Heinz. He wrote quite a lot of songs and was a backing musician for just about everyone in the 60's and 70's. I will ask him. He still writes and his friend posted a couple of songs. If you search under Mick Baker you will find them. Thank you for what you said. It was most kind

It's a very cool tune. Did your Dad place any other songs I might know (and I know some mighty obscure UK beat!)

My Dad, Stephen Reading, wrote this track. He wrote a lot of songs and I always thought he was very unlucky that the majority of them will never be heard. I will let him know your comment.

I've always thought this was such a beautiful record, possibly my fave Heinz track (there are so many greats!) The compression overload on everything heightens the drama considerably. Go Joe!

Have a couple of other Heinz recordings, will post them one day. Also have some of Joe Meeks work with The Riot Squad.

Thanks. I had this on LP. Alas, the quality of the recording was just as bad then (a feature of a lot of Joe Meek recordings, I have to say).
