I'm listening to this trying not cry...Love Hayden. but what happened to that sick excuse of a mother? I forgot all about that. Ugh, I hope she's still behind bars, if not having had killed herself or gotten the death penalty, (which I oppose about 99% aside from situations like these...) effing wretch.

Goosebumps......I still remember when this story was in the news.....It made me sick to my stomach.....many years and two beautiful children later it's hard to even listen to it without crying.

This song was the reason I bought this album. I was 17 at the time. All of these years later (I bought it the day it came out) I am even more awe-struck by its poingant and painful lyrics. The sadness and anger in this song blows me away still - perhaps even more as a father.

@jerkythesandpiper Silly, my ass. As the father of a three-year-old, I'd say he pretty much nailed how one might react in that situation. The confusion, the wanting to help the sibling, the still wanting to please his mother in spite of everything ... Jesus, I used to love this song's darkness, but now listening to it just hurts like a bad tooth because it's so visceral. Only a sociopath would laugh at this song.

the thought that someone would " laugh so hard they cry" to this song is sick. I have a hard time listening to it period. It was a sick thing to do and so sad to hear what might have been going through that 3 yr olds mind at the time.
