I saw him a few times at Place de Royale in Brampton, ON, in early 70's. The best accordion player ever. R.I.P.

When I need a lift I listen to this, my grandmother's favorite song. It makes me think of her and this makes me happy.

I can remember going to the Westport Lounge in Corner Brook in the early '70's to hear Harry Hibbs. I loved him. My God, I miss Newfoundland!

@carozealand Do a little research on Newfoundland heritage. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

Is this an Irish song? My Scottish grandmother used to sing it with us, and get a little tearful at the end, as she was a widow by then. I hadn't thought of it as Irish, but every version on youtube (not many) seem to have an Irish accordion and accent.

Harry Hibbs, the best accordion player of all times and will take along time before anyone can replace him.

Harry Hibbs, the bast accordion player of all times and will take along time before anyone can replace him. Just watch that video, between two trees, he makes that look so easy.. What an outstanding musician he was.
