It is weird that RJ got so much credit, but let's not forget, he didn't get crap 'til he was long dead. So basically almost all of the great founders got scee-rooed! I think his voice sounded a little better and maybe his playing was a little cleaner than a lot of the old blues guys i've heard. That may account for the noteriety. Hard to say though...

trust me, anyone who cares about the music enough to read up on it, knows where everything came from originally. For example, Canned Heat's Goin Up The Country is actually a song by a man who im unsure of the name of, who played a guitar and pan pipes. its a shame when they think robert started it, but its FAR worse when they think people like Jack White wrote Death Letter Blues. FAR worse.

No it wasnt Robert, it was the Missisipi Sheiks (Bo Chatman ,Lonnie Chatman ,Walter Vincson) and they recorded it in Febuary 1930 at O'keh Records in Shreveport. Thats about the same time Robert was still anoying the hell out of people and following Son House and Willy Brown around before he made his "deal".

"sitting on top of the world" was composed by Robert Johnson, he was one of the very first bluesmen.

Maybe the tune was composed by a delta singer/songwriter way before records were made and radio was inventet, so the actual composer is unknown and long gone.

Yes, this tune is "Sitting Top ...", but Tampa Red sung this tune with this title "Things Coming About My Way". Also, RObert Johonson's "Come on in My Kitchen" is same tune but very original poem.

Actually this song isn't even "sitting on top of the world", it's just the same tune.

It seems theres multiple songs with the name "sitting on top of the world", one of which being the one Bill Monroe, Doc Watson and other bluegrass artists did...Then the one Al Jolson did. It's different lyrics completely though.
