I am just getting into YOUTUBE. Gunsmoke is one of my favorite westerns from childhood. I can now watch reruns on TV, which is great; but these videos are very good, and I enjoy watching them,too.

Whatever the source of her infection I can not imagine a more cruel fate for such a wonderful woman. Here you have "Kitty", an honorable and kind woman, the absolute image of purity who dies from a disease that carried with it a stigma that so perfectly clashed with her own identity. Unfortunately, Kitty's death is the absolute definition of cruel irony. I realize that her contraction of the virus was through no fault of her own, but as a fan of Kitty one can't help but feel so sorry for her.

Amanda Blake, the actress who played Miss Kitty on the long-running television series ''Gunsmoke,'' died of AIDS-related complications and not, as a hospital and her friends reported at the time, of cancer, her doctor says. Dr. Nishimura spoke after a report by television station KRBK in Sacramento quoted her friends as saying now that her death was related to AIDS. He said that she had suffered from AIDS symptoms for about a year but that he did not know how she had contracted the disease.
