It's been a long time since I saw Gordon at the open air Universal Amphitheater in 1978-79...memories of him looking casually up at a departing PSA flight from Burbank, and changing out a broken guitar string.. quite the artist..and we got to see him in his prime...effortlessly singing with that strong resonant voice...pure silk...just like this recording...God Bless you Mr. Lightfoot!!

Thanks for encouraging folks to comment on this song. "Baby can't you see that I know how it is?" In a later song he wrote that women can only stand so much pain. As for any circle of friends... the man's story is easier to live with. Women are on their own and must operate from that vantage point. Men are seen as givers and women takers? It will always be like this and I do love this song!
