That is strictly a compliment, setting them apart separately from others, as rare species. Very special people deserving of respect both men have earned in my humble opinion. Truth be known is the musical wannabes didn't know what genre to place him in. Their stupidity cost him a great deal, but in another manner, cost Gord NOTHING! What's important is fans such as us, support him regardless of which Billboard cokesniffer idiots did to him. His success is unquestionable, his legendary iconic craftsmanship in music is unmatchable in any genre, and for those who disagree with my commments show me anyone else with 60+ years of musical and fan dedication. SIXTY+ YEARS!

Want Gord to "educate" you? Then read, as in let the words roll off your tongue, and study the lyrical incredulousness of his skill in songwriting. I always thought the SALTUE and EAST OF MIDNIGHT albums were great later efforts by Lightfoot, and should have done better commercially than they did. He was still writing some great songs, he was trying to update his sound to be a bit more contemporary for the 1980s. Most of these songs would have fit in perfectly with what radio was playing during that time period, and had radio chosen to play some of these songs, they could have done quite well.
