I remember this high-quality song being on the "B" side, yes, the "B" side of "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" 45 rpm record, which I still have after all these years. Journey well, Mr. Lightfoot and thanks for your music and stories.

Lightfoot has many, many great tunes but this one -- damn, it's so good. Listening for decades to this song and it just never gets old. Few today write songs as good as this one or hope to record something this excellent. Dylan is impressed with him, Elvis covered him -- who else do you need to get a blessing from? Stay well Mr. Lightfoot.

Hi Mr Purser, I've been absolutely jealous! Do you really have all these 45s? Man! What a gold mine! :) Let the music play. And thank you :)

As a writer, I'm blown away by the intricacy and precision of these lyrics, with strong imagery, synchronized to the music. It's easy to understand why Bob Dylan loves this guy.

Another one of Gordon Lightfoot's poetic metaphors on life. you make the best of each new day, you try not to be sad, even though the sky fallsdown upon you call it midnight feelin' bad...
