Still have this album. His best, in my opinion. Classic folk. Classic music.

With global warming, when the long river flows by your window, get the hell out of the way!

Sad song......anybody who doesn't like this stuff must be a shallow turd indeed.

I could see light though this album back in the late 60s, just about wore it out! When I came across this YouTube video, I closed my eyes and for a few moments there I was transported back to the 'hootenannies' at PA (our high school) - ah-h-h-h - certainly miss those times. These Lightfoot songs have never lost their magic.

GL's words flowed to freely from his pen in those days. It has been said so many times before, but is still true, "They don't make em' like that anymore."

I play guitar, and out of all the songs I play, this is my favorite. I wish he played it when I went to see him in concert

Gordon Lightfoot was so great as a folk artist I just can't believe he is not in the top 5 of all time great folk artists. Woody Guthrie is the father. Gordon is the son. Some of the people I see listed on some of the best folk artists of all time websites makes me laugh. Gordon's voice was so clear and easy to listen to. And so many albums and hits! There's too many to list! I'm just sittin here shakin my head. Oh well, at least the Rangers miraculously beat the Caps tonight. :-)

Amazingly, although i've been listening to his stuff since this album, i've never heard this one!!!!!!! Its a delightful surprise, i must say: he cuts right to the chase, takes no prisoners and never looks back in his writing and his performing. Completely awesome - his early stuff is so pure and so VERY Canadian!! Sigh.. those WERE the days, and he and Joni Mitchell helped make them what they were.

This is one of my favorite Gord pieces. I love the precise diction. Perhaps it's age, but I think Gord's pronunciation has muddied greatly in later performance.
