I have never been as lonely as this song makes me feel. The words and the melody sound deeply personal. He is a great writer and I truly would love to know what this song means... probably never will on account it isn't what people interviewing him want to know. Too sad... don't go there! But, it is why I have always looked forward to his next album/CD. To hear the rest of the story and hear him say to everybody listening to just keep trying. :D

I'd believe it. I read somewhere that the tracks on Harmony are actually demos that Gord and the band (and a few studio musicians) recorded some time before he got sick. It's a testament to Gord's skill as a composer and musician (and his band too) that the demos ended up sounding as good as they did.

You might be in love but you can still feel the possible loss.

I left out crucial line: "Remember the unborn children still to come!" Once it was us who needed to learn but, always there will be a new tribe/community so, keep telling the story. Personally, I don't like being needed. It is not who I am and It is what has made Lightfoot's vision an interesting one for me to consider. Is he an oracle? Could he lie even if he wanted to? lol O.O Or would he just say nothing? / O- \

Not exactly my words Big Guy. I was quoting another Lightfoot song! Jesus was the Son of God and like sheep we must stay together and learn from His teachings. Religion is personal but, doesn't it seem to be all tied together? Hmm, in this song Lightfoot asks: Where oh where is the young redeemer? Killed in the name of justice! Might we define justice as - dead martyrs? Is redemption an on going process or do we need to stop being martyrs? GL gets me thinking but, I must thank you! :D

We are free spirits: Nous V. Ensemble: 1971 We've got to stay together, we've got to find each other now, that is how we can learn all about the other man's song. From the plains of Abraham, when they sent "the lamb" to die. you and I were asleep in the Rock of Ages, If you need me then I need you, there's nothing more need saying, understand it, I'm not too deaf to hear the song - YOU'RE - playin'. We share a common destiny/Rock of Ages? It's about all not one.

Now we know that Fruitfanatic33 is a nice lady after I thought that Theitsy33 is a guy ! I like what you've said " .. He has enhanced my life with his songs ..!" and I'm inviting more viewers to take some closer look to his song ( Music & Lyrics ) to get more meanings .. I'm trying to do something through few pics !

I would give anything to meet that beautiful soul once again. I often think about taking a trip up to lake Couchiching area just to visit some of his stomping grounds. Meeting Gordon is STILL on my bucket list. He has enhanced my life with his songs...from the time I was just about 5 yrs. old.

I've had the pleasure many times. Would you believe that much of this album came forth during his time in hospital? When I went to visit him I really thought he wasn't going to pull through, but not only did he pull through, he kept working in the hospital so his fans could continue to enjoy his music. Would you believe that the aneurysm even robbed him of his hearing for quite a time and that didn't even stop him! What dedication and craftsmanship his music represents.
