This song actually spent 3 weeks at no. 1 on the UK singles chart in 1982.That was a pretty crazy year though - "The Kids from Fame" was no.1 for 12 weeks on the albums chart. The soundtrack to "Fame" the movie was at no. 1 for 2 weeks before that and "Fame" by Irene Cara was no. 1 on the singles chart for 4 weeks.It was also the year in which Ozzy Osborne first bit the head off a dead bat on stage and  Rod Stewart was car jacked on Sunset Boulevard and lost his $50,000 Porsche (50K was a lot back then)

In theory, it's actually not a bad song.  However, it must be one of the very worst dance routines ever, and the words are almost laughable.  I guess something got lost in translation?
